Each book is more than a collection of words and more than just a means of communicating information, stories, and feelings. A good book is an experience. Authors and readers come together in the pages of a book. That encounter goes a lot more smoothly when the pages are pleasing and inviting.
Here at Silvercat, we make content important. We believe the ideal page blends a variety of attributes into something more than the sum of the parts. We strive to choreograph a page as a dance of type faces, type sizes, kerning, leading, margins, trim dimensions, line endings, and page endings, all working together to call attention to the content of the book. Most Silvercat designs are invisible to the reader, who should notice the appearance of the page only when the design is an intentional component of the content.
