| The cost of putting a book together can vary widely. An estimate is exactly that: an approximation of the total cost based on what we expect will be involved in preparing the book for printing.
The simplest book to produce is the “plain vanilla” book that consists of straight text and no graphics. Books that are more complex take more time to produce. The additional labor is reflected in the cost of the final product.
Some of the factors that add complexity are:
photographs, illustrations, and other graphics |
tables and charts |
sidebars and call outs |
footnotes |
appendices and other supplemental material |
indexes |
special formatting |
color on interior pages |
We create simple covers in-house as long as they do not require original artwork. We work with established artists when we need to develop more complex covers. We will also cooperate with any cover designer you have chosen so that the cover meets your expectations and industry standards.
For all but proof reading, please send a sample chapter or two that fairly represent the book so we can give you a realistic estimate.
